Upholstery Fabrics / La Costa Upholstery

Before making a final selection of fabric on your project consult with your Upholsterer. Many decisions on fabric are merely chosen based on color alone. Textures are just as important.

I would also add the the fiber content and the weave or how tight the fabric is will determine
how well it will wear. Too many times I seen clients not look at the weave , when  it's too loose the fabric wears faster and looks old and thread bear . The lower grade fabrics , many made in China that are being put on new furniture from China just do last. That is why much of today's new furniture is so inexpensive . It just doesn't last, you can never go wrong when you but quality.  And many fabrics are not meant to be used as upholstery fabric. If it's too light weight it may need to be backed , and that adds cost to the fabric. The fabric may be too loosely woven ( you can see through the weave) and again it just will not wear well. So before you do buy your own show a piece to your upholsterer and get their opinion .

An upholsterer will redo your upholstery when time has taken its toll on your favorite pieces of furniture. If you have a couch that has seen better days, don't throw it out just yet. You might be able to save some money by getting it recovered and restuffed. You can even change the type, pattern and color of the upholstery when you do this, so it will seem like you got a brand new couch.
