New Foam in your cushions may be the Fix.

If that sofa or chair of yours is needs a little lift. If the cushions have flatten out it's time for new foam in the cushions. Most of time it's just a matter of unzipping the covers and replacing the old foam with new firmer foam and polyester. We can breath life into those old cushions and make that sofa or chair look and feel new.

Now foam comes in many firmness and you have to make sure that you get the
type that will last and keep it's shape. If you go with a foam that isn't resilient enough it will just flatten out in a short time. So ask about the different types of foam and ask to see and feel samples of the foam. The difference in foam type can be felt and seen.

New furniture what's it made of ?

You have an older sofa or chair that is sooo comfortable it just fits
you like your favorite jeans. Now it time for new fabric because
the old fabric just isn't looking so good. That piece may be made of solid hard wood that is doweled together and is made to last.
Your parents had furniture that was made the same way real wood and real springs.

Well today it's harder to find that in new furniture. There are some places that still sell it but you'll have to pay the higher prices for it. Much of today's new furniture is made of composite materials ( particle board, plywood and plastics) no springs instead elastic webbing and the grade of foam that they use in low quality and doesn't hold up over time.

So why aren't you having that old sofa reupholstered? You love the way sits and it fits you and your room. It's made much better then that new sofa on sale again this weekend for $ 600. How good can a $600 sofa be? With 1000s of fabrics to choose from you can find lots of great fabrics that will look great on your sofa.

When you reupholster that favorite sofa or chair you are not only keeping something that you love you are saving money. Why? Because it will out last that $600 new sofa because it will just last longer because it's made better.

Who is doing your upholstery and where?

There are many upholsterers in the area and some have been around for years.

Most customers call someone to have them come out to see the furniture and
give them a quote and that's it. They never see who is doing the work or where.

Many shops are very small and store furniture in an outdoor storage area that is
exposed to the elements. Wind, dirt, rain, birds and insects can all get to it.

The wood finishes, cotton and foam padding can get damaged.
And many other shops don't do their own work they send it out to other shops
in the area or south of the border.

When you are thinking of having something reupholstered ask if they do the work themselves and where is the work done. Are they insured for fire, thief, transportation and works comp. These things matter. Do you want to find out that your chair fell off the back the truck on the freeway and is now in pieces?
