January is a great time to get your out door cushions done.

January is a great time to get your out door cushions done. Why ? Because it's cold outside ( I know it's San Diego not Chicago) but most of us are not using our patio furniture and fire pits right now and what better to get ready for Spring and all the out door living . We have the fabrics and the best foams for your cushions . With over 40 years in the business we do things the right way , we use UV thread and nylon zippers

There are big differences in the quality of foam used in furniture.

There are big differences in the quality of foam used in furniture. To keep cost down most furniture manufactures use lower grade foam in their cushions. With that the cushions flatten loss the shape and need to be replaced .
We have much better foam to put in your cushions that will last for years. We can show you the different firmness of foam we have and advice you on the foam that would be best for you

Keep that "old furniture " and recover it.

Keep that "old furniture " and recover it. Older furniture was made better than anything you can get in the stores today. Once a upon a time things were made to last. Furniture was made from solid wood not particle board( sawdust and glue) it had steel springs not elastic wedding ( rubber bands) . Today's furniture is made to last a few years and then you throw it away and get a new one. Don't add to the ever growing problem of waste. Re-cycle your furniture by re upholstering it .

What’s the hype about performance fabrics?

What’s the hype about performance fabrics?
Finding the perfect combination of fabrics to match a customer’s design style and withstand the unique challenges specific to each home can be an overwhelming process. Many consumers, especially those with young children or fur babies, are often torn between on-trend style that will make a design statement or durability that can last spill after spill. The real question is: what fabrics are worth investing in?
Why performance fabrics?
Performance fabrics are all about functionality and are manufactured to have long-lasting performance characteristics, such as resistance to fading, water and staining. Many performance fabric companies manufacture upholstery fabrics in a different way than a traditional fabric to have these characteristics.

When selecting fabrics to upholster furniture pieces with, it’s important to research the technology behind these fabrics and the materials used. Look for performance that goes to the core, meaning that instead of a resistant coating on the top of the fabric, the performance attributes are part of the fiber that makes up the fabric itself. Performance fabrics from brands like Sunbrella make sure every thread is intertwined with bold color that doesn’t fade when tested against harsh challenges and they use non-peeling acrylic materials to ensure longevity.

There is no substitute for Quality

There is no substitute for Quality. The is more true today in the fabric and furniture industry. Cheap imports in both fabric and upholstered furniture have flooded the market over the last 20 years .
Jerry is selling $ 500 sofas , they have to cut corners to make a profit , so where is this happen? In the frames that are made of plywood and particle board ( Jerry sometimes calles it engineered wood) it's saw dust and glue. , in the cushions with the lowest grade of foam and in the springs, there are now using elastic webbing not steel springs. If you have an older chair , sofa or love seat save it re upholster it , invest in it. Don't but throw away furniture that you have to replace every few years.

NetFlix Documentary "Broken"

If you have  Netflix , watch the documentary Broken .
One of the episodes is on the furniture industry . You will see
how the industry has changed over the last 20 plus years.
And how cheap furniture has taken over and is hurting the environment and people.
Cheap furniture is thrown away much faster then well made
furniture ever was. Adding to the landfills and cutting of trees
at an alarming rate.
Recycle your furniture and re upholstery it . Have something
that lasts for decades not months.
